Rosanne van Sandwijk studied singing at the Rotterdam Conservatory with Roberta Alexander and graduated cum laude from the Master’s course. She continued her studies at the Opera Studio Netherlands. She is currently coached by Margreet Honig. Rosanne van Sandwijk has created the role of Dido in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Geraldine in A Hand of Bridge (Barber), Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Costanza in L’isola disabitata (Haydn) and Sesto in Giulio Cesare (Handel). On the concert- and oratorio stage she has performed works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Haydn, Saint-Saëns and Mahler, among others.
Rosanne van Sandwijk worked with conductors including Paul McCreesh, Jos Vermunt, Jan Willem de Vriend, Sir Collin Davis and Louis Langrée and with orchestras such as the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, the Residentie Bach Orkest, the Orkest van het Oosten, Concerto d’Amsterdam, Il Concerto Barocco and Camerata Salzburg.
In 2007 she made her debut in the small auditorium of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with the Lieder cycle Frauenliebe und –leben (Schumann). In 2009 she was granted with the HSBC Laureate prize during the D’Aix-en-Provence Festival and in April 2010 she gave another Lieder recital in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. She was also featured in the 2010Schubertiade of the Concertgebouw, where she gave a Lieder recital with pianist Malcolm Martineau.
